Most people don’t know that there is a best day of the week to publish blog posts and new content to their existing and new audiences.
Knowing which day of the week gains more traction on your website is the key to unlocking the amount of engagement – comments, content re-shares and SEO juice. Indeed, moving away from the wrong days of the week to launch new posts is a good strategy.
Within this post I’ll be showcasing when you should post new content for its best benefit. After all, you don’t want to spend hours creating that brilliant bit of content, only for it to be read by much less than expected.
Best day to publish new content
I have been personally blogging for years on another website. It’s only recently that I created this one to help showcase some of my key insights and learnings, since that audience wouldn’t be receiptive to this information that I share here.
Now, whilst there is a best day (or days) of the week to publish your latest blog articles, it isn’t perfect. There are just so many attributes that come into play. There will be times that you schedule your WordPress articles to go out at a precise time, yet are read by just a handful of people. Meanwhile another article goes viral.
So while choosing an optimal time is a great strategy, it’s only one small component. It’s your content, more than anything, that generates buzz.
From my vast experience, the best day of the week to publish new blog content is Tuesday, followed closely by Wednesday. I have omitted time of day since my audience is worldwide. Why Tuesday? It’s likely that many people are bored at their jobs and are looking a distraction. In my case, it’s a business opportunity blog that helps people free themselves from the rat race, so quite relevant!
If you’re curious, here is my Analytics screenshot of this particular site. Note the dips on weekends and the peaks on Tuesday’s.
On the flip side, the worst days are Saturday followed by Sunday. When I started blogging, I always thought weekends would be excellent. People aren’t working, they have free time and would come to my website. How wrong I was! This is why having Google Analytics installed on your WordPress Dashboard is so necessary, as it takes out the guess work.
Now, I’ve shared my experiences backed up with the hard data. I get approximately a 20% gain every Tuesday on average which is always welcome. Naturally, I schedule my best posts to go out then.
Now, over to you. What has your experience been with publishing new blog articles and content? Perhaps you’re from another country, target a different audience or target a specific country. As I said previously in this post, there are so many variables.
Let me know in the comments below how and why you schedule the blog posts the way that you do.
